Dear members, dear friends,
There are some news to be told.
We got together here in Halle and created regulations to get our Society registered under German law and receive a tax exempt status. At the moment the authorities are checking these regulations, it takes a little time.
The day before yesterday we had a meeting organised by the Nautical Society in Halle for friends and admirers of Count Luckner in a restaurant here in Halle. We had some visitors who immeadetely joined our Society, within some days I will provide a new member list to Terry Kearns to put this to our website. Next time our Society will organise this meeting.
Furthermore, the director of Halle Museums joined our Society, this is good because he has very good connections if we want to open our own museum and need stuff for exhibitions or help in any other way.
Another interesting detail I found out:
In the book "Seeteufel erobert Amerika" (it is about his "Good Will Tours" in the 20ies of last century) there is mentioned that a medal was made by the Concord Society in Philadelphia. On one side you could see the ship Concord used by German immigrants in the past to go to the young and increasing US, at the rear you could see the ship "Vaterland" of Count von Luckner. We would very much appreciate to get such a medal for our museum. Does anybody of you got an idea how to get such a medal?
Best regards and a wonderful weekend.
Matthias J. Maurer
