Dear members, dear friends,
One week holiday and lots of work "beside" our society are responsible for the delay of informing you about the opening of the exhibition "The end of World War II in Halle - The Timberwolves - Halle (Germany) - Felix Count von Luckner".
The opening took place on May 4.
The same day at our university there was another exhibition opened concerning the same issue, so we were afraid to get enought guests for our one. But there were enough, so that we all together were more than 120 people.
Our special guest was Mr. Fletcher M. Burton, the Consul General of the USA, Leipzig. Furthermore, the Lord Mayor of the city of Halle had sent a representative, Ms. Ria Steppan, who works as the speaker of the city.
Mr. Burton and Ms. Steppan addressed the audience wishing that our exhibition especially in the future will have the chance to do something for our main goal, to support international understanding.
The "First Bandonion Orchestra of Halle" played music and as a highlight there was the first release of a "Count von Luckner song", a song we had never heard before. There is no record of this song. Maybe we should get one produced to sell it to all who might be interested in. Thanks to the musicians and to the singers as well!
All together it was a great success. Now we are busy to get visitors to our exhibition. We defenitely need as many as possible of them because we still have to earn some money to get the costs paid caused by the exhibition.
We wish to thank all those who already supported the exhibition by providing money, material or time. Soon you will find the name of the sponsors in the link in our website.
Furthermore, soon you will find pictures of the opening. We will keep you informed about our efforts.
Best regards from Halle
