Dear members, dear friends,

In one of my last newsletters I mentioned that there would be some good news to be told.

One of them is that the German Mail decided to honour the Count this year !!!

Our society has been involved in that by advising the office which was responsible to design the item. It is not a stamp but a so called "Sonderganzsache". That means an envelope where a stamp is printed on. You can use this envelope for sending letters. In short future we will publish the item in our website. The background for honouring von Luckner is his 125th birthday.

At  first the German Mail did not intend publishing the item with an event or anything like that. But we offered them to do something here in Halle. And so on June 8, at Franckesche Stiftungen (www.francke-halle.de), their director is a member of our society, there will be a special post office only for that day. I personally will put a special for that day designed postmark on that envelope from 9 a.m. to 4. p.m. In future this item may get a certain value. We will try to get as many of thas envelopes to offer them to our members.

The same day we will publish a votive medal, a limited edition of 1881 medals (year of birth of the Count). This limited medal will be 10.00 EURO and can be ordered right now. We hope that medal will get a value as well.

As you can see, good news from Halle are keeping us busy, that is great!

Best regards, we will keep you informed!
